“Wednesday” is the name of the day of the week that falls between Tuesday and Thursday. It is considered the fourth day of the standard Western workweek, with Monday being the first day. In many cultures, Wednesday is sometimes referred to as “hump day” because it falls right in the middle of the workweek, and people often look forward to the weekend by the time Wednesday arrives. The name “Wednesday” is derived from Old English “Wōdnesdæg,” which means “day of Woden” or “day of Odin.” Woden and Odin are named for the chief god in Norse mythology.
